DCA1000EVM: AWR1443BOOST, mmWAVE Studio

Part Number: DCA1000EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1443BOOST, AWR1443

Hi mmWave team,

I am stuck on the following screen when attempting to use mmWave Studio with my DCA1000EVM connected to a AWR1443BOOST. I am able to successfully reset and connect to the COM Port but there appears to be an issue with loading the needed Firmware labeled BSS FW and MSS FW. The process of loading BSS FW completes in a reasonable amount of time but attempting to load MSS FW causes the program to get stuck displaying "0% Downloading Firmware to device... Please wait, you can't terminate". There is no evidence that anything is actually loading while this is displayed and nothing appears to happen when window is closed and reopened.

What can be done to ensure that both BSS FW and MSS FW are loaded correctly?

  • Hi,

In order to avoid any confusion, please make sure that you use the firmware provided in the mmwave studio package.

I noticed in the snapshot that the firmware from the dfp package is being used.

    thank you
    Cesar
  • I noticed this mistake after posting and corrected the firmware selected to be from the mmwave studio package instead but this did not appear to change anything. I still encounter the same issue where the first loads quickly but the second does not load at all. Also, I noticed that on the right side BSS firmware version is listed as 0.0.0.0 (00/00/00), which appears to signal an error in the first load as well.

Any suggestions for what to do next?
  • Khalid,

This looks like a continuation of your previous post. If so, then you need to make sure you are using two separate power supplies for the AWR1443 + DCA1000 setup.

    Kyle
  • Thank you Cesar and Kyle,

My initial problem did have to do with only using a single power supply. I am now using two power supplies and should be good running the rest of the setup for the DCA1000EVM and AWR1443BOOST.

    Thanks,
    Khalid
