Hi Team

I read the related question https://e2e.ti.com/support/sensors/f/1023/t/740532

And my question is same as the author asked.

But I want to ask can I directly use RS232 TX, RX and GND of device which is USB to UART interface(CP2102, https://www.sparkfun.com/datasheets/IC/cp2102.pdf) connect to the RS232 TX, RX and GND of AWR1843?

And use uniflash to flash the firmware?

Is it workable?

Hello Lukas,

Yes, we have used cables/breakout boards similar to below with no issues. Just make sure you are using a cable/breakout board with 3.3V logic level I/O and not a 5V.

Got it.

Take the USB to TTL Serial Cable for example,

There are four ports, power, ground, RX and TX.

And now Rx of cable connect RS232_TX(N5), Tx of cable connect RS232_RX(N4), GND of cable connect GNDog AWR1843boost.

Where should Power(3.3V) connect with the AWR1843boost?

Hello Lukas,

In the case of the two parts I linked, the power is provided via the USB 5V. There is no need to connect 3.3V from the AWR1843. All of the 5V to 3.3V conversion is handled by the cable itself. You should just need to connect TX, RX and GND.

Got it, so i just need to make Rx and Tx connect with cable USB.

And what should i set the number of COM port?

Is it a fixed number for each AWR1843? Or depend on the computer settings?

I set number 32 for the USB cable. But the uniflash seems to connect failed with DUT...

Hello Lukas,

The COM port number should automatically be instantiated by your PC, you shouldn't have to manually set it. The COM port number itself shouldn't matter, it should be able to work with any COM port number.

Are you sure you are connecting it correctly? The TX of the AWR should connect to the RX of that cable and vice versa for the RX of the AWR.

Also, make sure the SOP pins are set correctly for flashing. For flashing, SOP0 and SOP2 should be pulled to 3.3V and SOP0 should be pulled to GND.
