Can you please confirm if this Flash device supports QE mode , please see the following app note for supported  flash devices and known to be working with mmWave devices.

We will make sure that HW developers get this flagged in the future.

Meanwhile I've noticed something interesting.

Maybe I have ordered the wrong Flash types. The ones I'm using are working in ultra low power mode by default. In this mode the highest speed is 33 MHz.

There are also types which are working in the high performance mode by default. In this mode it seems to be that the operation frequency is 80 MHz.

Could that be the problem? In the document with the supported types it is said that 40 MHz operation for all commands should be supported.

The mode is changable by flipping a bit in the configuration register. Is there a possibility to modify the bootloader in a way that this bit will be set?

Hi,

We have only tested the flash listed in the appnote.

Can you reach out to the flash manufacturer to confirm how to configure the flash you are using to match the requirements in the appnote? You may be able to set it to 40MHz mode.

The bootrom code is fixed.  Does the Flash device have a tieoff that will allow you to modify this via HW change?

ok I see. In my understanding the only way to change the mode is to change the configuartion register of the flash device. The flash devices you are recommending work  at 80 MHz operation speed, how does this match with the 40 MHz?

The boot time of the 40MHz will be a bit slower than the 80MHz, besides that it should work very similarly.

Ok and if it's below 40 MHz it won't work?

The SFlash that have been tested and known to work are listed in the previously referenced app-note, however if it meets the requirements in the appnote and QSPI interface details in the datasheet then it should work.

You will need to test it to confirm.

Thanks! I'm trying to test it. I only considered the flash type as one possible error source.

I'm still having flashing problems with my custom board. I described it in my first post.

Hi,

Can you confirm that the device is waking up into the right boot state? Need to confirm the SOP lines are in steady state prior to nreset crossing 1.49V.

Hi Charles,

please find attached the pictures for sop 0,2 (red) and nreset (blue) signal during powering on.

The minimum SOP and NRESET High is 1.57V so the plot looks okay. What debugger are you using on the custom board? and what pins are you connecting to?

I have a XDS110 here but at the moment I'm not using it because in a first step I want to flash the ccsdebug.bin file. Therfore I'm using UNIFLASH and an USB to TTL (3.3V) converter connected to the RS232 TX/RX pins (U16,V16).

In a previous design with the IWR6843 it worked. In the current design with the IWR6843AOP it's not working. The UNIFLASH always gets stuck at the point when it's waiting for the break signal.

Do you have any working board with this design? do you mind sharing the schematics?
