CODECOMPOSER: Cannot Select CCSTUDIO in Code Composer Forum

Part Number: CODECOMPOSER
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CCSTUDIO, AM2634-Q1

Part number field choice in the Code Composer Studio forum only shows CODECOMPOSER. This links to https://www.ti.com/tool/CODECOMPOSER. However that is the old Code Composer.

The new Code Composer Studio is of course CCSTUDIO.

Please allow selection of part 'CCSTUDIO' under Code Composer Studio forum.

  • Please refrain from using the CCSTUDIO part. It is not really relevant for forum support anymore. Always use the "Ask a new question" button and select the device you are working with. This is the preferred forum support flow.

    Thanks

  • So is the intention not to use the Code Composer Studio forum anymore?

  • The forum can still be used. But (for strictly internal reasons), we prefer a device explicitly specified as the "part" for the thread to follow the proper support flow. We would actually like to remove the CCSTUDIO part from being used in E2E completely.

  • OK that's fine but I can't see how it's normally* possible to specify a part and target the Code Composer Studio forum.

For example, selecting the AM2634-Q1 means that my question can only be posted to 'Arm based microcontrollers forum' because the 'Select a forum' combo box is disabled after specifying said part.

That's why I've been using CODECOMPOSER as the part. This is one of only a few parts that allows the Code Composer Forum to be selected. This morning I noticed this creates a hyperlink to the wrong Code Composer so switched to using CCSTUDIO, the right Code Composer.

*More recently I've discovered the Move option but seems an unnecessary step if you just enabled the Select a forum combo box after part selection.

  • target the Code Composer Studio forum.

Please do not focus on this part. Even if the thread is not in the Code Composer forum, it can be redirected to me through an internal flow. Basically, the device experts must take the first look. They can then bring it to my attention without the thread existing in the CCS forum. They also can move it to the CCS forum if they wish - but this is not required.
