TPS82084: PSM

Part Number: TPS82084

Tool/software:

Hi,

1. Please tell me the current value that switches from PWM to PSM. In the case of 4V input and 1.2V output, I read from the graph of efficiency vs output current that it switches at 400 mA. Is this correct?

2. Please tell me if there is a way to calculate the current value that switches.

3. Is this current value determined by peak or bottom of ripple current?

Best Regards,

Nishie

  • Hi Nishie,

The transition point is highly dependent on the application conditions and also varies from sample to sample...

In my opinion, more appropriate would be to measure on an EVM for your application conditions for an estimate...

Please also refer to section 7.3.1 Power Save Mode (PSM) for further understanding.

    Thanks,
