BQ24725: Purpose of Use of IMD2A

Hi,

Could you tell me the purpose of the circuit of IMD2A described in “Figure 1. Typical System Schematic with Two NMOS Selector”? Is it used to switch the voltage source supplied to VCC by controlling the EN signal?

I would appreciate it if you could give me a detailed explanation.

    Hello Nishie,

    U2 is used to isolate the the battery from the BQ24725. This is not a required component. 

    For example: When adapter is removed, you can enabled U2 to allow the battery to power the BQ24725, or you can keep the battery isolated from BQ24725 to reduce quiscent current.
