TMUX1101: Needed to interrupt the analog signal

Part Number: TMUX1101

Hi everybody,

I need to use TMUX1101 to open and close analog signal for peak detector and hold circuit. There are two ways to do it but I don't know which is more optimal.
Can someone help me with a selection?

  • Hi Hai,

This is going to depend on the state you want your circuit in when the TMUX1101 is in the Hi-Z state (SEL pin is low). For Fig 1, when your TMUX1101 is off, the input to the hold circuit will be essentially floating. For Fig 2, the input will always be in a defined state (either at the Signal voltage or pulled to GND). Usually it is advised to always have the circuit in a defined state as this limits the possibilities of downstream devices picking up any noise and floating to an unwanted state which could cause problems with the application.

Again, either will work, but having a defined state at all times is usually advantageous.

    Thanks!
