Hello Sir,
I have one challenge for implementing CAN communication with different modules with same CAN ID.
I want to use bi-directional mux for selecting different module on same bus.
My question is, Can i use this multiplexer for CAN signal???
Or Do you have any other solution for that???
Regards,
Bharat
It is possible to mux CAN bus signals, but you have to ensure that the mux is capable of handling the voltages that actually occur on the bus. (The CAN specification demands that receivers can handle ±12 V; your bus might have a narrower range.)
Can you change the modules? Would it be possible to use CAN transceivers with a sleep or standby function?
Hello,
Bus voltage is not a issue for me, My CAN transceiver is operating on 5V.
TMUX1208 basically used for analog channel so, Is it possible to use for CAN????
Any alternative solution is available??
Regards,
Bharat
If the bus voltages are no higher than 5 V, then you can use the TMUX1208 (or any other 5 V mux) to switch them.
Hi Bharat,
If the voltage on any input w.r.t. never exceeds 5V (with a 5V supply) there shouldn't be an issue with CAN implementation of this device - the current limit of the device is +/-30mA through a channel - and with the setup I believe you have that shouldn't be an issue.
If those factors are in line with your application it shouldn't be an issue for the 1208 in this application.
Please let me know if you have any other questions!
Best,
Parker Dodson
