TS5A623157: Dynamic power consumption

Hi, I am planning to use this mux as a synchronous demodulator at frequencies around 1-20 MHz. The datasheet contains no information about the power consumption as a function of switching frequency. If you could provide either a graph of supply current VS switching frequency, or an equivalent measurement of Cpd (power dissipation capacitance), that would be extremely helpful.

The capacitance will vary based on whether the switch is in the ON or OFF state. You would take the worst case value here, which would be the CON (COM ON capacitance in this datasheet)

So if I do:
Power = Ccomon * VDD^2 * freq *Nsw

That is a decent approximation of the supply power for the mux switch?

Hey Colin,

Yes this will give a decent approximation. Most of the power consumption will come from the power supply but there will be small amounts through the I/O from things such as leakage and feedthrough current while switching but these will be transient and small relative to the power supply consumption so this will be a decent approximation to gauge the power consumption in dynamic conditions.
