Hi Expert,

Could you help to check if we have SPI redriver or MUX which can redriving SPI signal.

I hope there is a redriver can improve customer signal quality, since customer have some SPI issue at their HPM and SCM longer route and b2b architecture.

Hey mark,

The analog switches and muxes are passive devices that will only reroute the signal to a desired route. They won't actually drive the signal, which is what it seems you're looking to do to enhance the signal integrity. Are you looking to multiplex and drive the signals or just drive the 4 SPI signals?
You'll be looking for a buffer/driver so I'm going to loop in the correct product line to help you with selecting the correct device.

You can filter the search for parameters such as Vcc and Input type. Here are some general device recommendations/design considerations for redriving digital signals .

I know we can search product from TI website, but we don't know the device can support SPI interface or not.

do you know how to know which buffer can support SPI interface from DS ?

SPI signals are just plain logic signals. You can use any buffer that supports the required voltage and frequency.

I'd recommend the SN74LVC125A for 3.3 V and the SN74AUC125 for lower voltages.

For both devices of your recommendation, they can't support bi-directional signal, right?

Do we have other solution can support bidirectional signal?

Yes, buffers work only for Standard SPI.

It is not possible to have a redriver for Dual/Quad SPI because it would not be able to know in which direction to transmit the signals.

so standard SPI will not support bi-directional signal communication, right?

BTW, found competitor device could support 3-wire bidirectional communication, as below:

does TI has similar solution like this? the operation frequency up to 100MHz.

Hi Mark,

We do not have a device similar to that. Could you give me more details about your system or possibly a schematic so I can further assist you? Are you trying to implement Single SPI or Dual/Quad SPI? What voltage will you be operating at?

Hi Sebastian,

For customer design, SPI have both Dual/Quad modes and the voltage is 3.3V.

Hi Mark,

We do not have any devices in our portfolio that support Dual/Quad SPI. The best solution we offer would be to use a transceiver with a direction pin such as the SN74LVCZ245A . This is assuming you know when to switch the direction of the signals, if so you can connect your controller to the direction pin of the transceiver.

Our team only handles generic parts, and there would be no way to make that part in a generic way. Additionally our business plans aren't public knowledge so we would not be able to release that info.
