Product recommendation for rocket

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMUX646

Hi Team

Our customer is interested in knowing the best options for an SPDT RF switch and a 4*2 Matrix RF switch.

The switches need to handle frequency up to 3GHz and extreme environment with minimum insertion loss (since they will be on a rocket). Also, the switches should be bi-directional if possible.

The customer also would like to know if there is an option of controlling these switches automatically via Ethernet.

Thanks for help.

Regards,

Marvin

  • Hey Marvin,

The TMUX646 could certainly handle the frequency, and has low insertion loss (<1dB) however I'm uncertain about the 'extreme environment'. Is there some quantification or certification they're looking for here? And is there some quantification on what they're looking for in the insertion loss spec?

We won't have any switches in our analog multiplexers portfolio that can be controller via ethernet. Is this a necessity or more of a luxury feature the customer is looking for?

    Thanks,
    Rami

  • Hi Rami.

    Thanks for the support.

I will get back to you soon when the customer responds.

    Regards,

    Marvin

  • Hi Rami,

The customer needed this as a feature. I understand that we do not have this built in our devices, however is there any other way to implement this on the project?

    Thanks!

    Regards,

    Marvin

  • Hey Marvin,

I'm not familiar with any switches that can be controlled over ethernet.
I'm going to loop in the ethernet team and see if they have seen or have something that may be a solution here. Just to make sure we have the requirements correctly please confirm the following as well

    Requirements :
SPDT and 4x2 matrix (both RF)
    Insertion loss <1dB
    Handle 3GHz
    Controlled by ethernet

Ethernet team - Not sure if you have seen anything like this but figured it would be good to run it by you. Looking for switches that have the requirements listed above. Do you have a solution here that could work?

    Thanks,
    Rami

  • Hi Rami,

Thank you for the further help and for looping the Ethernet team as well. Yes, those requirements are correct.

    Regards,

    Marvin

  • Hi Marvin,

I have not heard of a SPDT controlled by Ethernet. TI does not offer any product like this as far as I know.

    Thanks,

    David
