TS3A4751: Power off application

Part Number: TS3A4751
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMUX1112, TMUX1511

Hi team

My customer is looking for a switch and is checking on TS3A4751 and TMUX1112.

In their application, the switch has to be placed on 1 board and the output device needs to placed on another board as below.

Could you check if this application is fine regarding the output maximum rating? (Datasheet says Vdd+0.3V so it's over the recommended value)

Regards

  • Hi David,

From the picture, the Vdd divide line shows that the mux will be powered off with the COM1 line pulled high to either 3.3V or 2.5V. This type configuration requires a mux with the powered off protection feature because muxes without this feature risk damage when voltage is present on the I/O pins and the device is powered off. Here is a TI Precision labs video that gives further explanation on this topic: Simplify power sequencing with powered-off protection

An alternative device with powered off protection in the 1:1, 4 channel configuration is the TMUX1511.

    Thanks,
    Tyler
