SN74CBTLV1G125: connection pin A and B

Hi everyone,

I have a question about the switching on the SN74CBTLV1G125.

The datasheet states that when OE(pin 1) is pulled low, then A (pin 2) is connected to b (pin 4).

Is this a real switch?
The datasheet states that there is a 5 -ohm connection between the two ports. Does it mean that the switch works bi-directional?

1. Can you clarify what you mean by is this a real switch?

2. Yes, our passive analog switches are bi-directional.

CBTLV switches are transmission gates; see [FAQ] What are the Types of Architectures TI Switches and Multiplexers Use and how do I know which one my device has internally?

When on, the switch behaves like a 5 Ω resistor; when off, the A/B pins are disconnected. (For ESD protection, all I/O pins have clamping diodes from GND and to V_CC.)

Thank you for helping out.

So if my understanding is correct, the connection line is a simple 5 ohm resistor that makes a physical connection between pin A and pin B when on?

Hi Kavita,

From a high-level point of view, that is correct. There are of course some parasitic effects of the switch, but when the switch is on there is a connection between the Source and Drain.
