TMUX1136: TMUX1136 FOR MUX BUS WITH SINGLE CONNECTOR.

Part Number: TMUX1136

Can I switch 2 BUSes using the TMUX1136 analog 2x DPDT and use a single output PCB connector?
- 1 CAN(5V) with TCAN 1042 [1a/1b] ;
- 1 RS485 with SP485EN-L/TR [2a / 2b] ;
- D1 and D2 out to the connector?
Channel accuracy can cause reading problems in the driver (TCAN1042 or SP485EN-L/TR).

EXAMPLE:

Thank you

  • You can use an analog switch, as long as the signal voltages are inside the recommended operation conditions, i.e., for this TMUX1136, between 0 V and 5 V.

    The CAN and RS-485 specifications allow bus voltages outside this range. So this switch will work only if you can guarantee that the voltages on your bus actually stay inside this range. Otherwise, you will have to use a switch that supports a wider range (with also requires wider power supply voltages).

  • Thanks for the technical note.
    The bus in question is powered at 5V on both the transmitting and receiving sides.
    My question was whether the analog switch could somehow alter the characteristics of the signal, and it seems not.
    There are also 5.6V TVS protectors in the circuit.

    Thank you.
