CD4052B: in CD4052BM how to find the mode of operation weather it is working as Multiplexer or Demultiplexer ?

Part Number: CD4052B

I am tracing a schematic to design, there CD4052BM IC is using and I am facing to find the mode of operation weather it is working as Multiplexer or Demultiplexer?

In datasheet only information available related to that CHANNEL IN/OUT terminals are the outputs and the COMMON OUT/IN terminals are the inputs. Is it automatically switches its function if we alter the status of COM pin because pin 3(YCOM) I am  connecting to sensor which was 5V and using only single Select control input A (Pin10) which is provided through MCU of 5V square wave of 25Hz with 50% duty . same I was getting at YCOM. but when I short Y com to GND and  opens also it is not coming back to 5V square wave instead of getting triangular of peak 1.4V with 25Hz, 50% duty. Please let me know reason.
