Hi Expertise,

I am working on Ethernet switch for one of the product, In the Ethernet switch which I have used 4 PHY Ethernet ports, and 2 Serdes RGMII ports, and 1 SGMII port is available.

We are using all the 4 PHY Ethernet ports and 1 SerDes SGMII port, and 1 RGMII port, Remaining 1 SerDes RGMII port which is of fixed data rate of 1Gbps SFP port is available I need this port to work for 100Mbps for my application, So My question is how to reduce the Fixed data rate of 1Gbps of SFP port to 100Mbps data rate.

Hi Tejas,

I believe RGMII isn't SerDes, Regardless, you can use the DP83869 to go from RGMII to 100Base-FX .

Refer to Table 9.5.1.2 in SNLS614B 869 Datasheet.

Hi Alvaro,

Yes, You are right RGMII isn't SerDes, But My requirement is we have one SerDes port of fixed 1GBPS data rate and need to be used as 100MBPS SFP compatible, How to convert 1GBPS Serdes port to 100MBPS SFP compatible?

Hi Tejas,

Our 869 cannot be used for SGMII and Fiber at the same time (these pins are MUXed, see Pin Description for Pins 14-17 in SNLS614B Datasheet).

One possible solution (using 2 PHYs) could be:

SerDes SGMII Port[Switch] -> SGMII 869 Bridge to RGMII -> RGMII 869 to 100 Base-FX (Fiber)

Hi Alvaro,

My requirement is as follows:

3 Electrical ports: 10/100 Base-T (shielded twisted pair, STP), connector type RJ45.

1 Optical port: 100 Mbps (SFP 850 nm MM or 1310 nm SM), connector type LC.

I require 3 electrical and 1 optical number of LAN ports, In which 100BASE-FX should be SFP compatible, Could you suggest me an Ethernet Switch which satisfies above requirements.

Hi Tejas,

Unfortunately the Team I'm in only focuses on Individual Ethernet PHYs. We do not have any switches to recommend.

Our Processor Team has SoCs with multiport Ethernet Switches.

Hi Alvaro,

At least Suggest me the Ethernet switch which has 3 or more copper ports and 2 or more SerDes/SGMII ports which suits the SFP transceiver, In which One of the SerDes/SGMII port should support 100MBPS data rate.
