TMUX1511: protection when short to 16V

Based on below application, if the output short to 16V, can the tmux1511 be protected without the diode.

Assume there is body diode inside the input of tmux1511, and current is limited by resistor b to make it smaller than 25mA.

I am not sure if it's the right architecture inside tmux1511, please confirm.

The TMUX1511 does not have clamping diodes to V_DD. (See [FAQ] Can the input voltage (Vi) to my logic device be higher than the supply voltage (Vcc)?) A voltage of 16 V is likely to damage it.

You should add an external clamping diode.

Hey iping,

You could also select a device like the TMUX6111 that can support the 16V short on the inputs. But otherwise, as Clemens mentioned, the TMUX1511 will need some clamp diode on the input to protect it.
