Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CD74HCT4051, TMUX4051, CD74HC4051,
I am using an MCU that outputs a 3.3V high level signal to control the CD4051 address pins. The CD4051 power supply is as follows: Vdd = 5V, Vee = Vss = 0V. The mux is used to select analog signals that range from 0 to 5V
The electrical characteristic table in the datasheet shows the Input High Voltage (Vih, min) as 3.5V. However, the datasheet mentions that the device supports "logic-level conversation for digital addressing of signals of 3V to 20V to switch analog signals to 20Vp-p".
If the MCU that is controlling the mux gives a 3.3V signal for its high level, do I need a level shifter to turn this 3.3V into 5V so that it is above the 3.5V minimum or the 3.3V should reliably work? I do not want to add an extra component if it is not necessary.
Thank you,
