TS5A2066: Positive Clamping Diodes on VIN?

Hello,

Does this device have positive clamping diodes on VIN?

Basically, trying to understand if I can apply 5V to VIN or NO when VCC is 3.3V. I read the footnote that "The input and output voltage ratings may be exceeded if the input and output clamp-current ratings are observed" but it's still pretty unclear.

The recommended operating conditions allow up to 5.5 V, independently from V_CC. Only the analog I/Os have positive clamping diodes.

Hi Clemens,

Looks like VIN is rated up to 5.5V, but VNO and VCOM are only recommended up to VCC.

Hello Michael,

Yes this device does have positive clamping diodes on the input . So basically if you were to put a voltage on the input higher than the supply, an internal diode would activate and send that higher voltage input through the supply. Here is an FAQ that goes into this in more detail.

If you would like a device where the possibility of this happening is eliminated using a feature called power off protection.

The TS5A23166 and TS5A21366 are pin compatible replacements
