TS3L501E: TS3L501E application question

Part Number: TS3L501E

Hi team,

when using TS3L501E to switch ON/OFF the input net cable. do we need a signal transformer before the TS3L501E or we can connect the input to the device?

  • Hey Dane,

The TS3L501E is just a passive switch so it's placement will be fine as long as the voltage and current limitations are not exceeded. So for this device the I/O needs to be between the supply and ground and the current can't exceed 128mA in the ON-state.
Do you happen to know how the transformer is  being used? I believe that often time there is some sort of bias on these. So your typical baseT ethernet signal may include some negative voltage but after the bias it becomes positive. If it isn't biased, the TS3L501E won't be able to support the negative signals.

    Thanks,
    Rami
