SN74LV4053A: Is there any TI alternate device for SN74LV4053A?

Part Number: SN74LV4053A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMUX4053, TMUX1133, CD74HC4053,

Hello guys,

One of my customers is using SN74LV4053A for their mas-production products.

The are looking for new TI alternate device for SN74LV4053A because the current device is very old device.
I found TMUX4053 as an alternative device in TI web. But this device VDD operation voltage range is 5V~24V.
They want the alternative device to operate from 4.5V as the minimum. they have the following questions at this moment.

Q1. Can TMUX4053 operate at 4.5V VDD?
Q2. Do you have any alternative device for SN74LV4053A except TMUX4053?

Your reply would be much appreciated.

Best regards,
Kazuya.

  • The TMUX4053 is optimized for higher voltages. The TMUX1133 has better analog characteristics, but at a higher price.

There is no reason to replace the SN74LV4053A when it still works for the application.

  • Hello Kazuya,

Like Clemens said, while the SN74LV4053A  is a old device you should not change your design as it will be in production for the foreseeable future.

    Regards,

    Kameron

  • Hello Kameron, Clemens,

Thank you very much for your reply.

I found they use SN74LV4053A-Q1 and CD74HC4053 too.
Do you have any alternative device for these devices?

Is it  TMUX1133 as same as SN74LV4053A case?

Thank you very much again and best regards,
    Kazuya.

  • There is no similar, automotive-qualified switch.

All these devices have the same pinout. But the HC and TMUX devices also support a negative power supply to allow switching negative signals. If you are not actually using negative voltages with the CD74HC4053, then you should be able to replace it with the SN74LV4053A.

  • Hello Kazuya,

    To reiterate what clemens said,

1.The  SN74LV4053A-Q1 is the only 2:1 3 channel auto qualified mux in the mux portfolio. I suggest your customer continue to use this device.

    2. All 3 devices( TMUX1133,SN74LV4053a and  CD74HC4053 have the same pinout. However the tmux and cd device also can support negative supply. If you are not passing negative signals in your application you should replace the  CD74HC4053 with the SN74LV4053A. If you are looking for a higher cost/more precision performance part you can use the TMUX1133.

Please let us know if you need any further assistance

  • Hello Kameron, Clemens,

Thank you very much for your reply.
I understood. I will tell them that TI recommends you continue to use these devices.

Thank you again and best regards,
    Kazuya.
