TMUX8211: Can be used to switch power rail ?

Hi,

Does TMUX8211 can be use to switch power rail such as to select +48V (s1 to d1) or -48V (s2 to d2) ?. Thank you.

In theory, yes. In practice, the current will be limited by the switch resistance.

There are specialized power/load switches like the TPS22810, but only for positive voltages.

Hi Harris,

Like Clemens said, in theory you could definitely do this. I would recommend seeing if the current limiting effect of the Ron of the switch negatively affect your application.

If a power/load switch is preferred then I can move this thread to that group. Maybe they have something in the roadmap for negative voltages.

Preferable a power / load switch device. Does TI has roadmap for negative voltage or perhaps has an existing device that is suitable ?

the requirement:

Voltage: +/- 48V

Current: +/- 200mA

Application for High voltage amplifier

Hi Harris,

Presently we don't have integrated solution for -ve voltage. You can check -ve hotswap which needs external FET.
