CD4052B: Switch Audio Signal Using Single 9VDC Power Supply

Hi,

I would like to control with a MCU the set of clipping diode in a distortion effect unit.
Board is powered with asymetrical 0-9VDC and audio signal is peak to peak max 7V without any DC offset.

CD4052 looked promising but after checking datasheet it seems that it needs asymetric power to handle my audio signal.
If my asumption regarding CD4052 is correct, is there any other chip that oculd fullfill my need ?

Please let me know if any of my point is unclear.

The CD405x can switch all voltages between V_EE and V_DD. V_SS is just the reference for the control signals.

If I understand your description correctly, you have audio signals that can go 3.5 V below ground. How is this possible when you do not have a negative power supply?

Hi Clemens and thank you for your answer.

I apologize for the typo I made in my first message, I meant "it seems that it needs symetric power to handle my audio signal."
-> You confirmed in your answer that VEE needs to be negative to handle an AC signal without DC offset.

Rearding my audio signal, I should have said that signal is offset at +4.5V (VCC/2) before opamp and as such I do not have negative power supply.
Hope it is more clear now.

Just connect the diodes to a 4.5 V virtual ground.

The TMUX4052 has better characteristics than the CD4052B.
