LV2862: LV2862

Part Number: LV2862
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMR16006

Tool/software:

We are experiencing a high failure rate, were voltage measurement exceeds the specified limits 7.52 - 8.48 with the failure margin varying between +0.001V and +0.100V, exceeding the upper limit of 8.48V.
In order to confirm the root cause, we need to return the sample to TI for Failure Analysis.
The U6(197440 274) is a buck converter, also known as a buck regulator or DC DC step down switching regulator.
This type of DC DC converter provides a regulated output voltage that is lower than its input voltage .
As a Switched Mode Power Supply (SMPS), it is suspected this component maybe have an issue related to the 8.0V output range.
Analysis identified 5 work orders with a TSR216 & TSR133 failure patterns. These failures are highly likely caused by U6(197440 274) with Date Codes 202321, 202323.
We conducted an evaluation by replacing the U6 ( DC: 202422 ) with a different date code DC: 202428 ) and the latest available date code.
After replacing 10 failed units, all 10 previously failed units successfully passed the test.
Type of test requested:
1. Electrical Check
- Sees if the LMR16006 regulator is doing its job correctly with power and voltage.
2. Load and Power Fluctuation Check
-  Sees if the LMR16006 keeps the voltage stable when the devices connected to the input power.
3. Heat Testing
- Sees how LMR16006 works at different temperatures to see if heat causes problems.
