TS3A27518E: Is it possible to accept an analog input of more than 3V when using a 3.0V power supply?

Part Number: TS3A27518E
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMUX1574

Tool/software:

Dear Specialists,

My customer is considering TS3A27518E and  has a same question.

I would be grateful if you could advise.

----

From the related thread, the TS3A27518E datasheet has been changed to state voltage values.
Has the answer changed?

Is it possible to accept an analog input of more than 3V when using a 3.0V power supply?

---

I appreciate your great help in advance.

Best regards,

Shinichi

  • The datasheet now guarantees that the device will accept voltages up to 3.6 V. The electrical characteristics tables also mention in the first line that voltages up to 3.6 V are allowed.

However, the other electrical characteristics are not guaranteed for voltages above VCC. You can try to extrapolate from figures 6-1/6-2/6-3.

(2× TMUX1574 would be cheaper, and has guaranteed characteristics for I/O voltages above the supply.)

  • Hello Shinichi-san,

The device is rated up to 3.6V as shown in your provided figure. If it is powered by a 3V supply, the analog input is limited to that voltage level and cannot exceed it. We do not recommended to go beyond the recommended operation conditions.

    Thanks,

    Nir

  • HI Clemens and Nir,

    Thank you for your reply.

TS3A27518E does not guarantee for voltage above Vcc.

I'll share this information with the customer.

I appreciate your great help and cooperation.

    Best regards,

    Shinichi
