TMUX7412F: High-Z switching when powered off

Part Number: TMUX7412F

Tool/software:

Hello,

I have an application in which i need to be able to switch following signals:

  1. 2x signal 1 should be switched between -5V and high-Z
  2. 2x signal 2 should be switched between 15.5V and high-Z

When the power is removed from the IC, the signals should be set to high-Z state. When in power-off high-Z, 15.5V signals will be applied on the output of the switch and should not cause any leakage into the switch.

Can this be done with the TMUX7412F powered at -5V / +15.5V rails? Or do you advice an alternative?

  • Hi Bd,

Yes the TMUX7412F can be used to switch -5V and 15.5V if the supply rails are -5V and 15.5V.

In addition this device has a feature called power off protection that will keep the signal path HI-z when the device is unpowered.

However the power off protection is only on the s pins of the device.

So to get the bidirectional power off protection you want you will need to use 2 TMUX7412F device where the drain pins are connected.

Essentially when you combine 2 of these devices in series the S pins will be facing the front and back of the combination( the drain pins will be located inside this design)

If the source pin are facing both directions like I am suggesting then you will have bidirectional power off protection like you need.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions and I can explain further if needed

    Regards,
