Hi team,
customer use TS5A3159A with 5V supply. in some case, on pin1 there is a 8V,200ns pulse. will it cause the device be damaged? what's the max voltage of ESD inside pin1? Thanks!

Hi Rayna,
The A version of this devices (as opposed to TS5A3159 without the A at the end) doesn't have the same esd cell on the I/O's that go up to the supply. Otherwise the isolation in V+ = 0 wouldn't work. If you limit the current it may reduce the likelihood of damaging the device but there won't be any guarantee since it would exceed the abs max.
If they don't want the isolation in V+ = 0 then they could use the non-A version and do what Clemens said. Limit the current and it'll be fine.
Thanks,
Rami
Hi Rami,
Understood. Besides, how does A version device realize ESD protection? Thanks!
Rayna
Hi Ruixin,
There is not ESD cell from the I/O to supply. Only from I/O to GND. If you want protection for overvoltage events, you'll need to add external protection
Thanks,
Rami
