my customer wants to find a product to switch between CAN,RS485 & UART. Can 4052 be used in this application? do u have any better products to recommend?thanks!

Hi zoey,

The CD74HC4052 is likely fine for UART and CAN applications but I do not believe it can pass the higher voltage signals required for RS485

Do you know the input voltage and signal frequency that is supposed to go into the multiplexer for the CAN and RS485 use case?

Hi Kameron,

the input voltage of 475 is 5V and the data rate is 115200bps

The input of CAN is also 5V and the data rate is about 1M

And the supply voltage is 3.3V , aligned with the supply of MCU. Will it cause any problems if the 485's voltage is 5V?

CAN and RS-485 buses can tolerate ground shifts between devices. Can a ground shift happen in your application? (If not, then the 0 V … 5 V range is enough.)
