TMUX7234: Power Supply Sequence for TMUX7234 (+14V and -10V)

Part Number: TMUX7234

Tool/software:

Hi TI  team,

I am using the TMUX7234 in my design with VDD = +14V and VSS = -10V. I would like to confirm if there is any specific power-up sequence requirement for these supplies.

  1. If -10V (VSS) is applied first, followed by +14V (VDD), will this cause any issue with the device operation?
  2. Will the switch remain in a defined state before VDD is applied?
  3. Are there any recommended precautions to ensure safe power sequencing for this configuration?

Thank you!

  • Hi Tom,

    1. The sequencing order shouldn't matter, as long as you keep the actual input voltage on the source/drain within the VSS/VDD levels.
    2. If you don't pull the enable pin low and don't have any I/O signals on the source/drain it should remain powered down before VDD is applied. The device has an internal pulldown on the EN pin so it should keep it of. But the state shouldn't really matter though since there shouldn't be any signals on the I/O before VDD is applied. If you do, you may back power the device and turn it on.
    3. As mentioned in 1 and 2, recommendation would be to turn the supplies on first then put the I/O voltage through.

    Thanks,
    Rami
