SN74LV4051A: Comparison with CD74HC4051M application

Part Number: SN74LV4051A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMUX1108

Tool/software:

Dear Experts,

We are designing a constant current transimpedance amplifier circuit and need to select an analog switch chip. We are currently evaluating SN74LV4051A and CD74HC4051M, but we are unsure which one is more suitable. Our application environment is at VCC=3.3V and a temperature of 25 ℃. We have reviewed the specifications and found that the maximum on resistance of the two chips is not significantly different. Which chip has better internal resistance stability in the same environment?

In addition, the specifications only indicate that the maximum Switch ON/OFF leakage current is ± 0.1uA. Is there a typical value for Switch ON/OFF leakage current that can be referred to at 3.3V and 25 ℃? Hope to receive an answer, thank you

best regards!

  • Both are using transmission gates made of plain MOSFETs, and are old designs without special optimizations, so I'd expect their stability to be similar.

The leakage current is strongly temperature dependent, so the 25 °C value is so small that it would be harder to measure. With the TMUX1108, the typical leakage is about one thousandth of the maximum. Do you have any requirements?

Here is a comparison of 74xx4051 and TMUX1x08 devices.
