TMUX154E: Beyond the Supply Alternative

Part Number: TMUX154E
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMUX1072

Tool/software:

Hi team,

My customer is considering TMUX154ERSWR for SMBus / I3C switching application, but there's concern that this device doesn't support beyond the supply input voltage.

The device needs to support 3.8V input while VCC=3.3V.

Does TI have any device which meets this requirement?

Best regards,

Kazuki Itoh

  • The TMUX154E indeed does not support input voltages beyond the supply.

    Use the TMUX1072 instead.

  • Hi Clemens,

Thank you. Is there any competitor device which is P2P to TMUX154ERSWR?

My customer is looking for the device capable of dual sourcing.

If it is not appropriate to write on on the public forum, please email me or send me the chat.

    Best regards,

  • Hi Kazuki,

    The  PI3USB103ZMEX is p2p with the TMUX154ERSWR

However I don't see on the diodes datasheet where it states that there device can support beyond the supply.

(Basically passing a signal from source to drain when the supply voltage is lower than the voltage on the io pins)

If they are looking to do actually beyond the supply I would go with the TMUX1072 like Clemens mentioned.

However if they are looking for a device that can tolerate a voltage higher than its supply on its io pins the TMUX154E would be the right choice.

Please let me know which operation they would like and we can discuss further.

    No problem helping here

  • Hi Kameron,

Sorry. My customer is looking for the competitor device P2P to TMUX1072 for dual sourcing.

Could you suggest the competition part number, or email me offline?

    Best regards,

    Kazuki Itoh

  • Hi Kazuki,

For the TMUX1072 I couldn't find a direct p2p drop in dual source solution for your customer.

I will close this thread and we can discuss this more offline through email.
