CD4067B: to output binary location of the wiper of a 17 point rotary switch

Part Number: CD4067B

Tool/software:

I'm trying to see I am thinking of this properly. I have a 17 position rotary switch (16 points and a common) and I was wondering if I could use the 16-channels of the CD4067 to let a computer know based on the position of the dial to trigger a channel and output a binary signal possibly through a PC104 bus.

I am hoping to build this as a dead bug circuit because of spacial issues that would not allow for a PCB.

Is it possible to make this work with such minimal room and additional circuitry?

  • Hi Fredrick

Conceptually there are no issues with your idea and as long  you follow the recommended operating conditions of this device your application should be fine.

Are there any particular questions you have about the CD4067B?

Please let me know and I can help
