Hello TI Team,

I am designing a CAN network where I need to switch CAN-H and CAN-L between two different CAN transceivers (or buses).

Part in consideration: TMUX1109
Data rate: 500 kbps to 1 Mbps (CAN 2.0B)
Application: Use TMUX1109 as a multiplexer for differential CAN signals
Question: Will TMUX1109 maintain proper signal integrity, common-mode voltage range, and differential impedance at these speeds?
If not recommended, can you suggest a TI multiplexer/switch suitable for CAN bus switching?

Hello Sakthibala,

The TMUX1109 can support this application signal integrity and speed wise. It has low Ron and leakage in the in the pA range. With 155MHz bandwidth it can easily support 1Mbps CAN signals.

Can you confirm what is the voltage level of the CAN signal you are trying to pass through the mux? It can pass signals up the 5.5V.

Yes, if the mux is powered by a 5V supply it will be able to pass 5V signals.
