The device will draw what it needs so if you're seeing 8uA on the supply than you've exceeded the max and something is likely wrong with the device or the setup. Can you give more information on the setup and what you're seeing?

we are not seeing 8uA we are asking if that is possible to run the MUX with this power level for a short period of time.

Are you planning on sourcing 8uA directly into the supply? You will likely damage the device since your sourcing device will increase the voltage to achieve the 8uA which will likely be well above the 5V max for the device.
