CD74HC4051: Seeing differences in date codes 4AAGGKM are failing but DC 48AFYRM are passing.

Part Number: CD74HC4051

Tool/software:

We are having some TI VPN CD74HC4051M fail during our preliminary card test.  We are seeing about 0.5 V difference between the channel In/Out pins 1, 2, 4, 5, 12, 13, 14, and 15 to ground.  I suspect there was a die change with the recent qualification of RFAB.

I suspect that one date code parts are before PCN# 20240411005.1 and the other is after.

Can you decipher the date codes and tell me what the difference is?  DC 4AAGGKM are failing. DC 48AFYRM are passing.

Do you have any comparison data between SFAB vs RFAB parts you can share with Collins?

  • Hi John,

Yes, with qualification of RFAB, there was a die change. However, the functionality of the parts should be the same.

    4AAGGKM: RFAB die
    48AFYRM: SFAB die

To help me better figure this out, could you share what your supply voltage is in this application? And what voltages are you seeing on the source side & the drain side?

    Best,
    Katy

  • Katy,

Thanks for the quick reply.  I'll see if I can get the requested information.  The parts are failing our in-circuit card test.  We are going to proceed with trying the circuit card in our top level assembly to check for functionality.

    Best regards,

    John
