Hi,

  I need select some switch for I/O signals go to diffence way. the signal will come from RM48 MCU to FPGA and connecter. Could you give me a answer about  that questiones list below.

  1. Can I use a  Analog Switch or Multiplexer for that. like ts5a3359? Is  the TS5A3359 twoway  path,I can use any I/O as a input ?

  2. If I use a Analog Switch or Multiplexer for a digital path, what parameters will be important?

    Hi Dison,

    I'll be happy to help. For many applications analog switchs can be used for digital signals. It however depends on your specific situation. If you could give me some more information about the signals you will be passing, and the project in general I can help point you to some of our products that will be the best fit for your needs. The most important factors will be:

    -Frequency of the signal

    -Amplitude of the signal

    -What if any communications standard you are useing (I2C, SPI, CAN, etc.)

    -# of Channels

    With these parameters I can help narrow down TI's catalog for you. Hope your day is going well and I hope I can be of some assistance to you.

    Hi Eric,

    Thanks for your reply.

    I am designing a test project with indeterminate I/O and communication  by RM48. So I have to leave every speaical interface and I/O for future as RM KID BOARD. For the reason, I will need a USB host, A USB device ,SPI4, LINE,I2C Ethernet and may change them to GIO.

    I chose TS5A3159 for 1 SPDT, TS5A23159 for DPDT, SN74CBTLV3257 for 4PDT, TS5A3159 for 1 SP3T. I just consided the Vin=3.3v, BW > 100MHz, Continuous current through>100mA,Capacitance of the path (choice of the smaller ones AFAP ) and ON-state resistance<10 ohm. Please help  me make sure that the choice of parameters is  applicable or not.

    I still need DP3T ,8P2T and 8P3T. I can not found them in TI's products. Could you give me some advice?

    Others , Could you tell me what difference among the TS5Axxxxx , SN74CBTxxxx, SN74LVC1Gxxxxxx.

    Dison,

    For the 8PDT and 8P3T switches you are looking for it would most likely be best to run 2 and 3 8:1 bidirectional muxes in parrallel respectivly. For the DP3T it depends. I would say your best bet is to use 3 DPST switches in parrallel to avoid timing issues.

    From what I am seeing the RM48 has a large number of high speed differental logic communications standards supported and these would best be handled with more specilized digital communications interface devices. http://www.ti.com/lsds/ti/analog/interface.page?DCMP=TIHomeTracking&HQS=Other+OT+home_p_interface will link you to a catalog with most of our digital communication switches/muxes. I personaly specilize in analog applications and have familiarity with our passive USB 2.0 switches so I'm afraid I may not be of much help if you are looking to transmit a wide array of high speed digital communication signals. I'll find the right person to help you with your project.
