switch BISS <-> ABZ

Hello,

i´m currently working on a device that has 2 Interfaces on-board. One is RS422 and the other one is BISS. I want to switch between this interfaces because there is only one Sub-D-connector for both interfaces to connect the device to another device. I want to use a TS3A44159RGT but are not completely sure if this is possible because the RS422 are only outputs but the BISS has one Input. That means one channel must be able to send (RS422) and receive (BISS) in respect which interface is active. If i understand the datasheet correctly then this is maybe possible. But ,as i told, i´m not completely sure. Has somenone used this switch in a similar design?

Thanks for help!

kind regards, Ronny

  • Hi Ronny,

    I'm not familiar with BiSS, but from what you described it sounds like this would work. The mux/demux is bidirectional, and the on resistance of the switch is very low so it shouldn't pose a problem. The only thing I'm not sure about is how well the analog switch would handle digital signals. I'm moving this thread to the switches forum so they can help out. What speeds are you running at in your application?

    Thanks,

  • Hi Jason,

    thanks for your reply! Because i´m running the BiSS with a maximum speed of 10MHz, i think the switch should work.

    kind regards,
