Bypassing LAN traffic with no supply

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TS3DV642

I have read some replies on the previous posts about TS3L501 that the IC should not be operated at Vdd = 0V.  However, we would like to connect the in and out LAN ports with TS3L501 in bypass mode during one of the a nodes on the network is failed and not power supply.  Are there any switch can be used without supply voltage?  Is there any way to use TS3L501 with current limit resistors so that the TS3L501 can be used?

Our network could have 12 nodes with 12X TS3L501.

  • Frank,

None of our switches can switch paths without power supplied to the supply pin as something needs to provide energy to make that happen.  We do have devices that provide bus isolation on the signal path even if there is not power to the device.  TI commonly calls this feature fail safe, Ioff protection, or specified leakage with Vcc = 0V.

Take a look at the TS3DV642 device as well as the others I filtered on TI.com parametric table that have this Ioff protection feature.

    Thank you,

    Adam
