Hi TI experts,

We have already designed inTI's amp & ADC in the audio circuit,...however we need to fix some I2S signal routing issues.

I am looking for 12S (4 wires) switch / multiplexer for I2S ( wires ) routing purpose.

Do you have any recommendation ?

We have several switches that can be used to switch / multiplexers. like you mentioned it looks like I2S signals specification calls for 4 wires, with at least 2.4 V for a valid logic high, and frequency's up to ~15MHz. Filtering for a 4 channel, 3V, >15MHz switch on the left hand side of the ti.com switch selector tool we have about 23 switches to choose from.

To help narrow it down further what type of switch are you looking for a 1:1 SPST or 1:2 SPDT. Do you have any requirements to help narrow search like package or size, power consumption, etc.?

Hi Adam,

We are looking for 1:2 SPDT bidirectional switch with low resistance to ensure the I2S data and timing can be transmitted accurately. So I should also look at digital type switch instead of analog type ?

And I found SN74CBT3251 , do you think it can fulfill the application for I2S 4 wires signal switching ?

Hi Fai ,

The CBTLV has rail to rail switching and works up to 3.6V .

SN74CB3Q3257 has 3.6V Vcc , but it can handle beyond rail to rail switching up to 5V. Unfortunately , neither of them have drive of its own. Do I2S signals satisfy the requirements ?

Fai,

In terms of TI definitions the digital switches and analog switches are the same and have the same architecture with bi direction passive FETs. You may use either type as long as the voltage, bandwidth, and channel count requirements are satisfied.

I searched the TI.com Switch selection tool for 4channel 1:2 SPDT switches and then sorted by on stare resistance lowest to highest. The lowest on state resistance part was the TS3A44159 but the SN74CB3Q3257 looks like it will work as well.
