TS3DV642: Used for HDMI 1.4 and DisplayPort 1.2a Switching from a source

Hi,

I am planning to use the TS3DV642 switch in the following configuration.

Switch Input - 1x Input

Switch Output - 2x Outputs

Input is connected to a host in which HDMI 1.4/DisplayPort 1.2a signals are muxed. At a time, I can configure the controller for HDMI or DP output. The 2x outputs from the switch are connected to HDMI connector and Displayport connector and it will be controlled by GPIOs.

The signal mapping of HDMI/DP Data pairs in connectors is not exactly same, however if connections from switch output to the corresponding Display side connectors are taken care, then is this design is feasible? please confirm.

    I didn't quite follow what you are attempting in your design.  Would you be able to supplement your description with a diagram? 

    The TS3DV642 is a high speed passive FET switch.  It doesn't have any buffering on the signal path and is bidirectional.  As long as your signal voltage and bandwidth is within the recommended operating conditions the performance of the device stated in the datasheet can be guaranteed.

    Thanks for the response. I have added the block diagram below. The Controller can output either HDMI v2.0 or DisplayPort v1.2 signals. The maximum speed is 6Gbps per lane that will swicthed by TS3DV642.

    Since the HDMI/DP connectors and their signal mapping are physically different this device is being used as switch. Please confirm if below is feasible.

    The TS3DV642 is a passive FET switch that can be ideally modeled as a 0 ohm wire.  The switch is designed to pass what ever signal it sees on the input to the output with as little distortion as possible.

    Since this device doesn't have any intelligence or protocol switching capability many different types of analog and digital signals can be supported by this device.  The device simply selects to pass a signal from D0+/- to D0+/-A or D0+/-B. 

    If this still isn't clear maybe if you draw the pin mapping you are trying to accomplish I can evaluate the feasibility.
