MPC507: MPC507AU vs MPC507AP Part Suffix

Part Number: MPC507

Hello,

What is the difference between proposed MPC507AU and old MPC507AP(G4).

I found an old datasheet (shippet below) which would seem to allude to package (PDIP) and RoHS compliance, but I'd like a little more detail.   Also, has TI discontinued the PDIP package version of this device?  If so, when was the package type discontinued (date)?

Thanks

Don

  • Don,

You are correct the datasheet you found is an older version from 2009.  The current datasheet can be found on TI.com revised in 2016.

The difference between the MPC507AU and old MPC507AP(G4) versions of the MPC507A device can be broken down into two parts, package and RoHS compliance.  The letters after the part number MPC507A designate the package type.  In this case the "U" indicates SOIC type package and "P" indicates PDIP type package.

The G4 suffix indicates the RoHS compliance.

From what I can tell it looks like TI stopped manufacturing the large PDIP package December 2016.

    Thank you,

    Adam
