TS3L110: Schematics and Layout Design Guidelines required

Part Number: TS3L110

Hi,

I am using TS3L110RGYR in my application. Can you please provide me the detail design guidelines, reference docs or application note. Do i need any external component to with the switch to switch between two LAN ports.

Regards,

Kamesh Lakhwani

  • Hi Kamesh,

    No external components are required for operating the switch other than those components determined by your system.

    Since the device is simply a switch a full design guide does not exist as it would vary due to system constraints. I have linked to a few E2E threads talking about  Magnetics and the TS3L110:

    e2e.ti.com/.../202408

    Also make sure to read up on TI's High speed layout techniques app notes. This is recently released one but there are numerous design recomendation guides out there.

  • Hi Dakotah,

    Thank you very much for your reply. I just want to confirm that, i am using the switch after the RJ45 connector having in-build magnetics and before the Processor having two port of Ethernet Phy support. I want to switch between these two ethernet ports of processor. That is,

    RJ45 with magnetics -> TS3L110 switch -> Ethernet Phy on MCU/processor

    Will this be OK ?

  • Hi Kamesh,

    I am not an Ethernet expert by any means but I do not see that causing an issue. To be sure I would continue to look at some other E2E threads to compare with your design. There are numerous posts regarding the TS3L110  as shown in the following E2E post:

    This post may have a similar concept to your design:

    Lastly, this E2E thread contains and app note for USB2.0 routing which operates in a similar frequency range.

    There is also a whole Ethernet forum where you will find existing posts that can help answer your question.
