Hello David,
Your first image of our switch is correct, however, this part allows for bidirectional signal flow, therefore the second image is incorrect since we do not tie the Body of our devices to the source.
Please see the image I have attached below:
Since we do not tie the body to source, either terminal can be drain or source depending on where you are applying your signal.

Thank you for reaching out to us with yours and your customers inquiries.
This device alone does not require a pull up resistor for its own operation. However, the need for a pull up resistor (to VCC) or pull down resistor (to GND) is dependent on the application that your customer is using this for. If our switch goes between two other devices which require a default HIGH or LOW (meaning it cannot be left floating such as an application with open drain outputs) then you will need a pull up or pull down resistor.
