TS3A5017: Can we leave unconnected PINS NC as shown in the image

Part Number: TS3A5017

Pins 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 are left NOT CONNECTED. is this acceptable?

  • Hello Chethan,

Although it is not explicitly stated, TI recommends that you tie any unused input/output pins to ground.

The two reasons for this is that there is protection circuitry within this circuit, so tying the pin to GND will set the voltage value to 0V and not set it off from stray voltages and charges from parasitics within the part and board.

Thank you very much, would you mind sharing what you are connecting this MUX to and maybe the end application?

  • Since this is a Dual SP4T switch and I am making use of only one and disabling the other i thought leaving NC may not cause any issues.

If TI recommends to GND these I can do that. Please confirm me on this.

The application is there are 8 Frame signals coming from DSP and these should go to 2 RF connectors.

Attaching the schematic page, please refer.
  • That is correct, we recommend you tie them to GND as mentioned in the posts above.
    Thank you,
    Louie
