TS3L501E: The Ethernet switch selection

Part Number: TS3L501E

Hi team,

The customer needs to select an  Ethernet switch. His requirements are as below:

1. SPDT, 1:2 switch

2. Support at last 2.5G Base-T

I found our   Ethernet switch could only support 1G Base-T,such as TS3L501E.

Can TS3L501E support 2.5G Base-T? Do we have the suitable device?

Best Wishes,

  • Mickey,

To determine if a switch can support a particular signal standard you need to evaluate the bandwidth and voltage of that signal.  TI passive FET switches can support any signal standard as long as it is operated within the recommended operating conditions.

What is the voltage and bandwidth of the signal you would like to support?

It looks like 2.5G Base-T has 4 pairs of signals with bandwidths of 100MHz per channel.  The TS3L501E 600MHz should be able to support the 100MHz signals.  Looking at the frequency response in the datasheet it looks like there might be about -0.5 dB of loss through the switch @ 100MHz.

    Thank you,

    Adam
