CD74HC4067: using 2 mux together

Part Number: CD74HC4067

Hello,

The picture below shows the truth table of CD74HC4067.

The selected channel is none when E=1, is this means the output is open circuit?
We need additional MUX on the board, can I tie the outputs of two MUXs together and use EN to select them?

Thanks very much, Keith

  • Keith,

When /E = 1 or logic high, the signal switch creates a high impedance path between the drain and source.  These are solid state FET switches so there isn't a true open circuit like a mechanical switch.

You can see the Hi-Z spec when E = Vcc in the datasheet.

Yes, you may connect the I/O pins of the switch and toggle between them with the enable since the "off" switch will be Hi-Z.

What are you connecting that you need a 32:1 switch?

    Thank you,

    Adam
