Switching DisplayPort (DP) signals through TI Differential Switch (TS3DV20812)

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TS3DV20812, TS3DV642

Is the TS3DV20812 Differential Switch suitable for switching DisplayPort signals?  Does anyone have experience using this switch for this purpose or any knowledge of why it would not be suitable for this purpose?

  • Mel,

The TS3DV20812 device can support 2 Gbps data rates but the newer DisplayPort 1.1a and 1.2 data rates exceed the performance capability of this device.  We recommend using the 7.5 GHz TS3DV642 switch that can support the 5.4 Gbps data rate needed for DisplayPort 1.2 applications.

    Thank you,

    Adam
