TS3L301: MUX/DEMUX with two TS3L301

Part Number: TS3L301
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TS3L501E,

Hi,

I have to realize a Mux/Demux showed in the attached picture for automatic testisting.

The two masters don't have to work simultaneously.

First of all I would like to know if I can connect two switches like in the picture.

I think that four RJ45 connectors with magnetics are mandatory.

Do I have to insert pull-up resistors or 100ohm resistors for each line pairs between the two switches?

Thanks for the support

Best Regards

Riccardo

  • Riccardo,

There isn't any issue connecting two signal switches together as they are passive FET switches.

The TS3L301 cannot have any voltages below 0V on the signal path as it is outside the recommended operating conditions. Since you have magnetics on both sides of the switches your signal voltage will swing around 0V and provide a negative voltage to TS3L301. You will need to include some sort of biasing like pull ups to make sure that you don't expose the TS3L501E to 0V.

You will need to include this bias circuity on every configuration that will be communicating to the TS3L501E. At first glance it looks like placing the pull ups at nB1 and nB2 will cover most cases. If there is a case where the DUT communicates back without the Master path selected you will need to add the pull ups on the slave side as well.

    Thank you,
    Adam
