TS5A4624: I2S signal switching

Part Number: TS5A4624
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMUX1209, TCA9546A, TMUX1104

Hi team

My Customer requested MUX/Switch for I2S communication like the below.

So, I will suggest TS3A44195 and TS5A4624.

Is it ok that TS3A44195 and TS5A4624 apply I2S communication for the follow?

Please check and reply.

  • Charles,

I2C signals are typically 3.3V and 400kHz to 1MHz and I2S is 3.3 V 12MHz to 25MHz. Can you confirm the voltage and datarates for your I2C and I2S bus?

This means you will need to choose a switch that can support 3.3 V signal and have a bandwidth of at least 3 times your highest frequency signal(75 MHz if you are using 25MHz I2S as your fastest signal.)

Since you will need 2 channels for I2C and 4 channels for I2S, I would recommend using 3x TMUX1209 devices which are 2-channel 4:1 devices.

    Thank you,
    Adam
  • Hi Adam

I changed block for the below.

    Check please.

  • Charles,

The main difference between the TCA9546A and the TMUX1209 is how you give the switch the signal to change state.  The TCA9546A requires a full I2C command from the microcontroller to change the switch state where the TMUX1209 simply uses a GPIO high or low signal to change state.  Another main difference is the TCA9546A can communicate to all 4 ISPs simultaneously where the TMUX devices can only communicate one at a time.

Why did you choose to use the TMUX1104?

The lowest IC count solution is using 3x TMUX1209 devices.

    Thank you,

    Adam
