Switching AUX channels

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMUX136

My customer is looking for an option to switch AUX channel on the eDP connector from the differential AUX mode to I2C bus.

I am not sure if this is supported on the eDP, like on standard DP this is supported – to support DP to HDMI dongles.

Is there bidirectional bus switch available which you can recommend to me for this purpose please?

AUX channel is 720Mbps, 1Vpk-pk, bi-dir differential pair.

  • Shashank,

For I2C you will need a 2-channel device to support the data and the clock line.  For 720Mbps signals, we would recommend using a switch with bandwidth at least 1GHz bandwidth.  You can see more information on this calculation in the FAQ page

You can use the ti.com search tool to search for a device with at least 1GHz bandwidth.  What do you think about the TMUX136?

    Thank you,

    Adam
